91-680 Remove/Install Passenger Airbag Unit

91-680 Removing, Installing Passenger Airbag Unit

Notes regarding checking and adjusting installation position

NOTE: After removing the mounting frame (9):

- insert mounting frame,
- tighten screws (5-8) slightly
- insert passenger airbag unit and
- tighten airbag unit with the central securing bolt (2).

Checking and adjusting installation position

NOTE: The airbag unit must always be tightened with the central securing bolt for the check.

1 Apply and release pressure alternately with your thumb and index finger on the left and right sides of the airbag unit. The airbag unit must not move when this is done.

Eliminate play of the airbag unit by alternately tightening and slackening the screws (3 and 4).

2 Check the size of the gaps of the airbag unit. The clearance to the instrument panel must be the same all round and the transitions must be flat.

If the airbag unit is too low in the upper or lower area or projects when installed, slacken screws (5 and 7) and (6 and 8), respectively, and move unit appropriately down or up.

If the airbag unit is too low in the left or right area or projects when installed, slacken screws (5 and 7) and (6 and 8), respectively, and move unit out or press in accordingly.
