With Passenger Side Airbag
Installing Handset1. Remove center console storage compartment (rollo-box).
2. Measure and mark five hole locations on underside of rollo-box as per template in kit (when measuring back, use seam as starting point, arrow, Fig 5). Drill five 4.5 mm holes. Enlarge hole on right side to 19 mm (Fig. 6).
3. Mount cradle inside rollo-box and fasten from underneath with four screws and star washers (Fig. 7).
4. Measure and mark hole location on back of rollo-box. Measure in 15 mm from left side and 30 mm up from bottom. Drill a 4 mm hole. Attach white wire clip onto handset cord approximately 10 coils from connector. Secure clip to inside of rollo-box, fasten nut on outside (Fig. 8).
Ensure that connector can reach and be guided through large opening on underside of rollo-box.
5. Cut-out opening for handset cord along perforations (Fig. 3).
6. Remove tape from fixed harness connector and plug-in handset cord connector to fixed connector (accessable through opening).
7. Reinstall center console storage compartment (rollo-box). Place handset in cradle.
Perform the following on vehicles produced prior to October 1991.
8. Remove radio.
Models 124.090/290 only
a. Remove ashtray.
b. If an intermediate 3-pole connector is installed between the vehicle harness and ashtray, reinstall ashtray.
If there is no intermediate connector, locate the two 3-pole connectors behind the ashtray bracket and connect them between the ashtray and vehicle harness. Reinstall ashtray.

9. Remove 5-pole connector from rear of radio. Check pin layout. Pin 4 of the connector should be a BK/YL wire, pin 3 - GN/BK.
10. Reconnect 5-pole connector to radio ensuring that the wires enter from the top of the connector.
11. Reinstall radio.
