B. ELECTRONIC DIESEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE

Some vehicles may be equipped with a EDS control module that places the vehicle in a limp home mode, with no turbocharger boost, resulting in a customer complaint of poor performance. In this control module the parameters for fault code triggering may have been set too narrow. In case of customer complaints of poor performance, a system test should be performed. If no fault in system can be found, a modified control module is available which should be installed.

Model 140.134 (300 SD) Coolant reservoir

Ladies and Gentlemen:

In our continuing efforts to avoid customer inconvenience and to ensure owner satisfaction, the coolant reservoir in the subject vehicles should be replaced.

A remote possibility exists that the coolant reservoir can crack, causing a loss of coolant and illumination of the low coolant indicator lamp. If the leak continues for some time, the engine could overheat.

As a precaution, please exchange the coolant reservoir on affected vehicles during the customer's next service visit or contact the customer to bring the vehicle in for a special service visit, if one is not scheduled in the very near future. Special "customer care" measures as noted on the at tached listing should be utilized in situations where a special visit is scheduled.

A sufficient supply of coolant reservoirs is available. The parts should be ordered from the facing PDC.
