Injection Timing With Reference Indicator

CHECKING/ADJUSTING SPECIFICATIONS:
Checking: 14+0.5°
Adjusting: 14+0.5°
Values are for Reference Indicator test method only.

TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS:
Closing plug to regulator (measuring point): 3O-35Nm
Injection pump flange 20-25Nm

TEST EQUIPMENT:





Reference Indicator Connection Layout

Adjusting:

NOTE: Check injection timing before adjusting.





- Remove plug (11) on injection pump.

NOTE: Catch escaping oil.





- Install Indicator (008) in injection pump (arrow).
- Connect indicator (008) and clamp (009) to battery positive terminal.





- Turn crankshaft in direction of rotation to 14° ATDC.





- Loosen mounting bolts (arrows) at injection pump flange.





- Loosen bracket mounting bolt (arrow).





- Pivot injection pump by turning adjusting screw until both lamps A and B light.

Adjustment screw direction:
Right = Retard injection timing
Left = Advance injection timing

RI-nominal value: 14° ATDC

NOTE: If the adjustment range is inadequate, the pump must be removed, repositioned and reinstalled.

- Remove reference indicator.
- Install screw in plug on injection pump and torque to 30-35 Nm.
- Torque mounting bolts on injection pump flange and bracket to 20-25 Nm.
- Check regulating linkage, and adjust if necessary.
- Check for leaks with engine running.
- Check engine oil level, and correct if necessary.
