DATE: February 1994 (supersedes SI. MBNA 72/11, January 1994)

REF. NO.: 72/11A

SUBJECT: MODEL 140
MODIFIED TRUNK LID CLOSING ASSIST

Revision: Operation number in formation has been changed.

The trunk lid closing assist has been modified to include a "quick release which accelerates the extension of the striker (100. Figure 2), providing faster closing assist.

Effective Serial Number:
Model As of Chassis End Number
140 118121

Function:
The extension of the striker is no longer controlled by the closing assist supply pump but by the PSE control module. Therefore, the striker microswitch (S88/3) as well as some mechanical parts have been eliminated.

When the trunk lid is opened the closing assist striker is now extended by the PSE by means of pressurizing an additional element (2, Figure 2).

The retraction of the striker (when closing the trunk lid) is still performed by the closing assist supply pump.

Only the modified version with the quick release system will be available as a spare part.

The modified version may be installed in models prior to production phase-in. When installing the listed parts (see Parts Information), please note the following procedure:
