To improve operating convenience, the central locking and the anti-theft alarm system can be operated with an infrared transmitter in the key head. In addition, any side windows and tilting/sliding roof still open can be closed or the side windows can be opened again within 10 s after central locking.
All processes are displayed by feedback lamps.

Remote control is possible up to a distance of approx. 6 m with the maximum capacity of the transmitter batteries, remote control of the convenience operation up to a distance of approx. 3 m.

The receiver units with feedback lamps are located up to 08/95 in the front door handles and next to the trunk lid lock cylinder.

As of 09/95 the receiver unit with feedback lamps is located at the interior mirror. No receiver unit is located in the front door handles.

Additionally as of model year 95 the trunk lid can be opened by means of the trunk lid remote control by operating the transmitter twice within about 0.8 seconds.
