Campaign - Coolant Reservoir and EDS ECM Updated

REF.NO.: 07.1/18 and 20/3

DATE: October 1992

SUBJECT:
MODEL 140.134 (300SD and S 350)
A. COOLANT RESERVOIR REPLACEMENT
B. ELECTRONIC DIESEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE

A. COOLANT RESERVOIR REPLACEMENT
The possibility exists that the coolant reservoir can crack causing a loss of coolant and perhaps overheating. The reservoir should be replaced during the customer's next service visit. If a service visit is not scheduled in the near future, the customer should be contacted and asked to bring the vehicle in specifically for this purpose. Refer to the procedure in this bulletin.

B. ELECTRONIC DIESEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE
Some vehicles may be equipped with a EDS control module that places the vehicle in a limp home mode, with no turbocharger boost, resulting in a customer complaint of poor performance. In this control module the parameters for fault code triggering may have been set too narrow.

In case of customer complaints of poor performance, a system test should be performed. If no fault in the system can be found, a modified control module is available which should be installed.
