Camber Strut

Camber Strut






NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

WARNING:
^ Risk of fatal injury due to vehicle slipping off or tilting on the hoist
^ Align vehicle between the pillars of the hoist and position the four support plates at the hoist mounting points specified by the vehicle manufacturer


REMOVAL
- Refer to the illustration above and the information below when removing the camber strut
- Remove the covers from the spring link
- Observe installed position of camber strut (2) large radius (arrow) for later assembly





- Observe installed position of camber strut fixing bolt (2a) on rear axle carrier for later assembly
- Lower axle half until the hexagon or polygon head bolt (2a) of camber strut can be taken out below the spring dome (2g)
- Detach shock absorber or spring strut (6j) from spring link
- Clamp and unclamp rear spring (6p), refer to tensioning/untensioning springs for other service procedures under Coil Spring, Suspension

INSTALLATION
- Reverse procedures to install, noting the following:
- Chase thread of front and rear, rear axle suspension bolt on frame floor with tap
- Mount camber strut on the wheel carrier side with the large radius (arrow) downwards
- Lower axle half until the hexagon or polygon head bolt (2a) can be inserted below the spring dome (2g)
- Tighten the following components as noted:
- Self-locking nut for attaching the shock absorber to spring link: 100 Nm
- Self-locking nut of spring strut level control/ADS on spring link: 100 Nm
- Self-locking bolt of front rubber mounts of rear axle carrier on frame floor: 70 Nm
- Self locking bolt of rear rubber mount of rear axle carrier on frame floor: 70 Nm
- Self-locking nut, camber strut on rear axle carrier: 70 Nm
- Self-locking nut, camber strut on wheel carrier: 70 Nm
