Headlamp Cleaning System (Hcs)

A. General
The headlamp wash/wipe system is activated by switching the vehicle lights and by operating the combination switch which also activates the windscreen washer system.

The wiper motors continue running so long as the combination switch is operated and move automatically into the park position after the switch is released. The pump, in contrast, only runs intermittently and is controlled by a contact in the wiper motor. Consequently, washer fluid is only sprayed briefly onto the headlamp lenses during each wiper movement.

B. Arrangement and setting of nozzles
The driving shaft of the headlamp wash/wipe motor is designed as a hollow shaft. The wiper arm is provided with a push-on cap with integrated spray jet. When the cap is pressed onto the hollow shaft, the connection between hollow shaft and wiper arm is created automatically which produces the water feed to the jets.

The jet can be adjusted by inserting a needle into the ball. The washer fluid jet from the nozzles should strike the headlamps at the point indicated (cross).
