Body Control Systems: Description and Operation

Component Network:

The convenience feature includes the following functions:
- Closing windows and tilting/sliding roof with remote control key.


NOTE: Power windows and tilting/sliding roof can only be actuated when the ignition key is in position 1, 2 or 3 (no longer at door contact)


NOTE: (USA) (J) only
The windows and tilting/sliding roof can be closed with the key at the driver's door as well as at the trunk.


Central locking feature for windows and tilting/sliding roof
Lock vehicle and hold remote control button down until windows and tilting/ sliding roof start to close automatically after approx. 1 s.

The closing operation is interrupted when the remote control button is released.


(USA) (J) only
Turn key in door or trunk lock to position "Lock" and hold. After approx. 1s the windows and sliding roof begin to close automatically.


(USA) (J) only
The closing operation can be interrupted by turning the key back to the initial position. The closing operation can be continued by turning in the direction "Lock".


NOTE: In the event of a pinching hazard the windows and tilting/ sliding roof can be opened again within 5 s after actuating the closing operation.


NOTE: Once closed the windows can be opened again after approx. 2 s.


For this purpose press remote control button again and hold down.


(USA) (J) only
For this purpose turn key in direction "Unlock" and hold.

Once the tilting/sliding roof is closed, it can no longer be opened with the emergency opening feature.


NOTE: The four power windows and the tilting/sliding roof are actuated in the closing direction with a time delay in relation to one another. Actuation is accomplished in the following sequence:
- Tilting/sliding roof
- Right rear power window
- Left rear power window
- Right front power window
- Left front power window
If the key turned all the way to the right to position 4 in the trunk lock, the windows and tilting/sliding roof are not activated and remain open.







Opening windows with power window switches
Press power window switch in direction "Open" to pressure point.
Window opens as long as power window switch is pressed.

Press power window switch in direction "Open" beyond the pressure point and release switch. Window opens automatically all the way (only front windows).

The automatic opening operation is interrupted
- upon reaching the block position,
- when the associated power window switch is pressed again,
- when the associated power window motor is switched on for longer than 25s without interruption.

Closing windows with power window switches
Press power window switch in direction "Close". Window closes as long as power window switch is pressed.
