Replacing Main Oil Gallery Steel Balls With A Plug

NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

PREPARATION
- Knock out steel balls, refer to Removing Main Oil Gallery Steel Balls

REPLACE PLUG ON FRONT OF CRANKCASE





- Tap 18 X 1.5 mm thread into the oil passage.
Length of thread 10 mm
- Thoroughly clean oil passage.
- Install plug (1) with seal (1a).
- Tighten to: 50 Nm

REPLACE PLUG ON REAR OF CRANKCASE





- Tap 16 X 1.5 mm thread into oil passage.
Length of thread 14 mm
- Thoroughly clean oil passage.
- Coat plug (2) with Loctite 241 adhesive compound and insert.
- Tighten to: 50 Nm
