Remove/Install Crankshaft Retaining Lock For Ring Gear
NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.RETAINING LOCK AT OIL PAN
- Remove bottom noise encapsulation
- Remove end cover (2)
- Insert retaining lock
- Allow to engage in ring gear, bolt to oil pan.
Rotate engine at crankshaft, if necessary
Use 6 x 90 mm bolts (4) otherwise the threads in the rear end cover will be damaged.
- Tighten 6 mm bolts to: 10 Nm
- Tighten 8 mm bolts to: 25 Nm
RETAINING LOCK AT STARTER OPENING
- Remove bottom noise encapsulation
- Insert retaining lock (5) into starter opening and allow to engage in ring gear, with starter removed.
Rotate engine at crankshaft, if necessary
RETAINING LOCK AT RING GEAR, OIL PAN REMOVED
- Allow retaining lock (6) to engage in ring gear, bolt on to transmission bell housing, with oil pan removed.
Rotate engine at crankshaft, if necessary.
- Tighten bolts to: 40 Nm
