Pneumatic Range Adjustment, Except Code (941) US

Except CODE (941) US Version With Pneumatic Headlamp Range Adjustment

The headlamp range adjustment for the vehicle headlamps is accomplished by vacuum controlled actuators.

Each headlamp unit is equipped with an actuator. The actuator is connected to a pivoting reflector by a pull rod. The maximum stroke of an actuators 3.0 ± 0.2 mm.

Model 202
Since the fog lamp is integrated into the headlamp range control the headlamp range moves the common reflector thereby adjusting the fog lamp in addition to the low and high beams.

Models 170,202,210
The control switch installed on the right next to the exterior lamp switch S1 is connected to the actuators in the headlamp units via a pneumatic line for each actuator. A third pneumatic line supplies the control switch with vacuum from the intake manifold. If a number of vacuum loads are present the vacuum may also be supplied using an additional vacuum valve block installed in the right component compartment.

Model 129
The pneumatic lines are connected on the control switch using quick connectors. The control switch located on the left next to the exterior lamp switch is supplied with vacuum from the intake manifold via the vacuum valve block.

The control switch is equipped with a shut-off valve to protect against unintentional adjustment of the reflectors in the event of vacuum drop.

The control switch has three control stages in addition to the basic position 0. In the basic position 0 maximum vacuum is present on the actuators. In control stages 1, 2 and 3 the vacuum at the actuators is reduced, this increases the stroke and the reflectors are inclined downward from the basic position.
