Active Service System (ASSYST)

This document offers an overview of the driver information possible with ASSYST, as displayed in the multifunction display (A1p13). Unless otherwise notified, the display will appear in white lettering.

On the request of the driver
- the service interval is displayed first, followed by
- the fault and warning messages for engine oil and, finally,
- the messages for oil level measuring.

Most displays regarding the remaining time or remaining mileage also show the extent of service (A or B, one or two service symbols).

The language of the display can be selected via the function "Settings" on the instrument cluster (A1).

Remaining mileage (extent of service A)
This message will be faded in if the service display has been called up manually or the warning threshold has been reached.

NOTE: This message will not be faded in if the timed maintenance is active. This can only occur on vehicles with low annual mileage.

Remaining Mileage (extent Of Service B) Part 1:

Remaining mileage (extent of service B)

Warning message - Engine oil:

Oil level too low, danger for engine
This message is faded in red lettering if the oil level has dropped to a level where the engine could be damaged.

Engine Oil Level - Minimum Level
This message is faded in when the oil level has dropped to the mm. marking.

Engine Oil Level Or Engine Oil Condition Has Dropped To A Critical Level
This message is faded in if
- the oil level has dropped to a critical level or
- the condition of the oil has deteriorated through, for instance, ingress of water.

Oil Measuring System Defective
This message is faded in if there is a fault in the oil system e.g. defective oil sensor (oil level, temperature and quality, B40).

Oil Level Messages At Driver's Request

NOTE: "Please switch on ignition"

This message will be displayed on oil level call-up if the ignition has not been switched on.

NOTE: "Not with engine running"

This message is displayed on oil level call-up with the engine running, as the oil level cannot be measured in this condition.

This message is always displayed when the oil level is called up. Correct oil level determination is only possible with the vehicle stationary. This message reminds the driver of this.

NOTE: "Measurement not possible now"

This message is displayed at the time of oil level call up, if the waiting time after engine having been run is not adhered to. This waiting time can be up to 30 minutes if the engine is cold.

Low oil level
This message is displayed on oil level call-up if the measurement has been carried out and the oil must be topped up.

The following quantities can be displayed:
1.0, 1.5, 2.0 Liters or Quarts.

Oil level in older
This message is displayed on oil level call-up if the measurement has been carried out and the oil level is in order.
