IFI Fuel Metering Control (Y23/1) Function

Function when ignition "ON", engine running
The solenoid (Y23/1a) actuated by the IFI control module (N3/7) with a variable square-wave signal moves the solenoid armature (Y23/1b) against the force of the restoring spring (20/3) in the "START" or "WOT" direction (a). The "distance travelled" (control travel) by the solenoid armature (Y23/1b) is dependent on the ratio of ON time to OFF time of the square-wave signal. The maximum control travel of the armature (Y23/1b) with the fuel rack is 19.5 mm.
The longer the solenoid (Y23/1a) is energized, the more the armature (Y23/1b) is drawn into the magnetic field of the solenoid (Y23/1a). As a result, the fuel rack is pushed in the "START"/ "WOT" direction.
After about 30 seconds, the armature (Y23/1b) is moved in the "Stop" direction by the restoring spring.

Function when ignition "OFF", engine stop
No actuation is performed. The solenoid armature (Y23/1b) and the fuel rack are pushed into the stop position (b) by the restoring spring (20/3).
