Task
Preheating combustion chamber in order to achieve the ignition temperature required for the fuel-air mixture.
Function
When the glow/starter switch is switched on (S2/2, position 2), the preglow time relay (N14) is actuated through terminal 15. The preglow time relay (N14) actuates the pencil-type glow plug (R9) and the preglow indicator lamp (A1e16) in line with the coolant temperature which is detected by the afterglow coolant temperature sensor (B11/8). Once the required preglow time has been reached, the preglow indicator lamp (A1e16) goes out and thus indicates ready to start.
Safety shutoff
If the engine is not started within 20-25 seconds after ready to start is indicated, the glow current is interrupted by the safety shutoff.
