Forming Substitute Value If No Signal/Emergency Start
Forming substitute value if no signal:
The IFI control module (N3/7) forms a substitute value on the basis of other signals if input signals are not received in order to maintain system operation.
The formation of a substitute value may result in:
- Reduced engine output/reduction in top speed
- Exhaust gas recirculation being shut off
- Cruise control being shut off (AT only)
- Boost pressure/intake pressure control being shut off
Emergency start (formation of substitute value), only model 202 up to 11/94
If after the last engine start, a fault signal is supplied by the IFI/DFI crankshaft position sensor (L5/6) to the IFI control module (N3/7), an rpm signal is required from starter ring gear rpm sensor (L3) for the next engine start.
