General Module: Description and Operation
Combination Control Module (N10/1)
Located in module box
The function of the following control modules were combined in the combination control module.
- CF control module (N57)
- CF relay module (K24)
- Wiper system relay module (K26, K26k1/k2/k3)
- Rear window defroster relay module (K13). (control signal only)
The combination control module provides the following control functions:
- Power windows, front and rear
- Outside rearview mirror adjustment
- Sliding/pop-up roof
- Interior illumination
- Entrance/exit lamps
- CL interior locking switch (switch signal)
- 4-way flasher
- Steering column memory
- Rear window defroster (control signal only)
- Windshield wiper control
- Rear head restraints (switch)
- Residual engine heat utilization (REST) system (switch)
- Trunk lid remote release (switch)
- DTC memory for PSE, DTC interface for ESA and ATA.
Interior CAN bus
The combination control module is linked to the following components via a new interior CAN (controller area network) bus. This interior CAN bus has no connection to the engine CAN bus known from previous models.
- PSE control module (A37)
- Left front ESA control module (N32/1)
- Right front ESA control module (N32/2)
Coding
The combination control module can be coded for specific countries and models. When new (replacement) control modules are connected to battery power for the first time, they must be programmed with the following data using the HHT:
Vehicle coding
- USA
- Left-hand steering
- Model (example: 210.0 [Sedan])
Equipment coding
- ATA (including interior lights on/off by ATA alarm)
- Driver's seat with memory
- Passenger seat with memory
- Outside rearview mirror memory must be intialized. To do this, move each outside rearview mirror to the end stop of the adjustment in all four directions (up, down, left, right).
The combination control module can be reprogrammed as often as required, e.g. when equipment is retrofitted.
DTC memory
The PSE control module (A37) has its own DTC memory. This feature is accessed by the combination control module and communicated from A37 to N10/1 via the interior CAN bus.
The following control modules have their own DTC memory:
- Left front ESA control module (N32/1)
- Right front ESA control module (N32/2)
- ATA control module (integrated into A37)
However, the DTC memory can only be read out via the combination control module (Ni 0-i).
The DTC memories in the combination control module and the other control modules can only be read out with the HHT.
