Installing Microphone (1/97 Production)

16. Remove dome lamp assembly (SMS, Electrical System II, Job no. AR82.20-0110E).





17. Measure and mark hole locations as per dimensions in illustrations (Figure 4).

18. Using microphone base as a template, carefully punch hole locations (a) and (b) to 4 mm using an awl (Figure 4).

19. Enlarge forward hole (a, Figure 4) to 8 mm so that the microphone connector can pass through. Pass microphone connector and cable thru enlarged opening. Secure microphone base to headliner with 3x10 screw. Fasten back of screw with speed nut. Pull microphone cable completely thru opening. Place 2 fingers over microphone mounting base from above the headliner. Snap, microphone onto base evenly. Do not latch one side first.

20. Connect one end of pre-amp cable (wrapped in anti-static foam) to microphone cable, the other end to the vehicle cable.

21. Reinstall dome lamp.
