Drive Authorization System Control Module, Function
The radio frequency DAS control module has the following functions:
a) Radio frequency remote control for central locking
- Receiving and evaluating radio frequency remote signal
- Actuation of - central locking (CL)
- anti-theft alarm (ATA)
- confirmation via turn signals with additional relay
- Reading in - and evaluating mechanical lock switch (lock switch 1 unlocking, lock switch 2 locking) (USA) (J) only.
- relocking signal
- "hazard warning flasher active" signal
b) Drive authorization system stage 2B (DAS 2b)
- Actuation of coil for transponder on ignition starter switch
- Reading in and evaluating transponder signal
- Engine control module release via CAN with valid transponder code
The radio frequency DAS control module (N54/3) evaluates the transmitted transponder data and if valid releases the engine control via the CAN data bus.
c) Transponder recognition
If circuit 15 is actuated on a locked vehicle and the transponder is recognized as valid the radio frequency DAS control module (N54/3) signals "universal unlocking". The turn signals are not actuated. The feature can be set by version coding with the HHT.
d) Relocking
In order to avoid undesired unlocking the vehicle is relocked by the radio frequency DAS control module (N54/3). The vehicle is relocked following unlocking with the remote control when:
- none of the doors is opened within 40 s
- the key is not inserted into the ignition lock
- the central locking interior switch is not actuated
- only the trunk is opened following "universal unlocking"
There is no confirmation by the turn signals. The ATA is activated by the relocking function.
