Thermostat Housing: Service and Repair
Removing And Installing Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing
1 Remove viscous fan clutch (1)
- Engines with viscous fan clutch
NOTE: Left-handed thread
2 Drain coolant
- at radiator
3 Remove cover (16)
4 Disconnect coolant hoses (2, 3 and 4)
- Check condition of coolant hoses and hose clamps and replace if necessary.
5 Disconnect electrical connectors and vacuum pipes on temperature sensor in coolant thermostat housing (30)
6 Unscrew suspension lug (6)
7 Unscrew coolant thermostat housing (30)
- Unscrew bolts (7, 8 and 9).
NOTE: Installation:
- Clean sealing surfaces and replace O-ring (31).
- If the coolant thermostat housing (30) is replaced, observe location of temperature sensor.
8 Install in reverse order
9 Check cooling system for leaks.
