Maintenance Intervals and System Sheet, General Information
The MERCEDES-BENZ maintenance system includes all the necessary maintenance work which should be carried out at regular intervals if the vehicle is used under normal operating conditions. The normal operating condition intervals are:
- Lubrication service every 7,500 miles/12,000 km or at least once a year.
- Maintenance service every 15,000 miles/24,000 km or every 2 years
A detailed list of the applicable maintenance jobs is contained in the maintenance booklet or the Maintenance System Sheet (Service Sheet).
This revision applies to models 124, 129 and 140 as of model 1994 only. All vehicles prior to model year 1994, the previous maintenance requirements apply.
NOTE: When performing the maintenance jobs the indirect check of the lining thickness of the brake pads must be performed via the brake fluid level.
Fluid Levels:
Fluid levels are checked by a visual inspection of the exterior of the components (automatic transmission, transfer case, front and rear axles) for oil leaks. Since these components do not consume oil such as an engine, the oil loss can only be to the exterior of the component. If leaks are present, the cause of the leak must be determined and repaired, and invoiced under a separate repair order.
Additional Maintenance Jobs at Maintenance Service:
These maintenance procedures are to be performed at 60,000 miles/96,000 km or every 4 years.
