WARNING: Uncontrolled firing of airbags, side airbags and emergency tensioning retractors poses an accident hazard. Testing and installation should be accomplished or supervised only by properly trained personnel. Store airbags and side airbags with opening surface pointing up. Do not expose to temperatures above 100 °C. Interrupt electric circuit when working on units.

NOTE: Observe legal regulations regarding handling and storing of airbags, side airbags and emergency tensioning retractors.

Removing, Installing:
1. Disconnect ground lead from battery.
2. Remove top section of instrument panel. If the passenger airbag has been triggered than it is necessary to replace the instrument panel upper section.
3. Fold vapor barrier [1] toward front in area of screws [2].
4. Disconnect connector from squib [R12/8] on gas generator. When reconnecting this connector you must hear it lock to be sure that the connection is made.
5. Unscrew screws [2] for passenger airbag.
6. Remove passenger airbag. Render airbag unusable if it is to be replaced.
7. Reinstall in opposite order.
8. Perform system diagnosis. Testing and Inspection
