Removing And Installing Drag Link













CAUTION: Installation Replace self-locking nuts and bolts

1 Detach steering shock absorber (46) from drag link (11)
2 Unscrew nuts of drag link (11)
3 Press tie rod joint out of steering knuckle
4 Press off drag link (11) on pitman arm and steering idler arm using puller (053).

NOTE: Installation: Clean grease off tapers and press ball joints firmly into steering arm.

5 Press off drag link (11) on pitman arm and steering idler arm using thrust piece (046) and puller (044)

NOTE: Installation: Clean grease off tapers and press ball joints firmly into steering arm

6 Check joints for play and damaged rubber boot
- Replace drag link if necessary

NOTE: The right-hand drag link joint is a pivot joint with a swivelling range of max. 2 degrees. This prevents the drag link tilting.

7 Install in opposite order
8 Check and adjust toe-in at front axle
