Closing Soft Top, Function

The figure shows the individual stages for closing the soft top.

Stage 0 (initial position, not illustrated):
Soft top open.

Stage 1 (not illustrated):
Press the power soft top switch (S84) and hold down. The indicator lamp in S84 starts flashing (until completion of stage 11).

NOTE: When the power soft top switch (S84) is released the closing operation is interrupted immediately (stop function) at any time for safety reasons.

Stage 2:
The front and rear side windows are opened electrically (if closed previously). The rollbar is retracted hydraulically (if extended previously).

Stage 3:
The soft top compartment cover is released hydraulically.

Stage 4:
The soft top compartment cover is pivoted up hydraulically.

Stage 5:
The soft top is moved hydraulically out of the soft top compartment. The rollbar/soft top operation control module (N52) cancels the bypass for the temperature sensor (B10/4b1) for the air conditioning.

Stage 6:
The soft top bow is pivoted up hydraulically to the nearly 90° position

Stage 7:
The soft top compartment cover is pivoted down hydraulically.

Stage 8:
The soft top compartment cover is locked hydraulically.

Stage 9:
The soft top bow is pivoted down hydraulically.

Stage 10:
The soft top bow is locked hydraulically. A signal sounds in the overhead control panel control module (N70) indicating that the soft top can flow be locked manually (see stage 11).

Stage 11:
Manual: Turn release lever to right and pull soft top down against windshield frame. Then turn release lever to left and pivot up.

Stage 12 (not illustrated):
The rollbar is extended (if extended previously), the front and rear side windows are closed (if closed previously). The indicator lamp in S84 goes out.

Subsequent pressurization times
Even after the individual limit switch positions are reached the corresponding hydraulic cylinders remain actuated for a short time in order to compensate for tolerances in the limit switch switching points.
