Opening Soft Top, Function

The figures shows the individual stages for opening the soft top

Stage 0 (initial position not illustrated):
Soft top closed.

Stage 1:
Turn release lever to right and lift soft top slightly. Then turn release lever back and swing up.

Press the power soft top switch (S84) and hold down. The indicator lamp in S84 starts flashing (until stage 10 is completed).

NOTE: The remote trunk lid release function is no longer possible until the soft top has opened completely.

When the power soft top switch (S84) is released the opening operation is interrupted immediately at any time (stop function) for safety reasons:

Stage 2:
The front and rear side windows are opened electrically (if closed previously). The rollbar is retracted hydraulically (if extended previously).

Stage 3:
The soft top bow is released hydraulically.

Stage 4:
The soft top bow is pivoted up hydraulically to nearly the 90° position.

Stage 5:
The soft top compartment cover is released hydraulically.

Stage 6:
The soft top compartment cover is pivoted up hydraulically.

Stage 7:
The soft top bow is moved hydraulically into the soft top compartment.

Stage 8:
The soft top is moved hydraulically into the soft top compartment. The temperature sensor (B10/4b1) for the air conditioning is automatically switched to ground potential by the rollbar/soft top operation control module (N52).

Stage 9:
The soft top compartment cover is pivoted down hydraulically.

Stage 10:
The soft top compartment cover is locked hydraulically. A signal sounds from the overhead control panel control module (N70) indicating that the top has closed correctly.

Stage 11 (not illustrated):
The rollbar is extended (if extended previously) and the front and rear side windows are closed (if closed previously). The indicator lamp in S84 goes out.

Subsequent pressurization times for hydraulic cylinders
Even after the individual limit switch positions are reached the corresponding hydraulic cylinders remain actuated for a short time in order to compensate for tolerances in the limit switch switching points.
