Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation
Interlinkage of components
The trunk lid remote control (TRC) allows the trunk lid to be unlocked by remote control.
This function can be actuated when the vehicle is unlocked with the remote trunk lid opening switch (S15) in the passenger compartment on the left next to the mirror adjustment switch (S21).
The remote trunk lid opening switch (S15) is provided with pushbutton unit illumination as well as a function lamp.
The function lamp indicates whether the trunk lid is open or closed and is connected in parallel with the trunk lamp (E18/1).
When the vehicle is locked the trunk lid remote control function (TRC) can be actuated by pressing the button twice on the remote control for infrared remote central locking (IRCL) within 0.8s.
When actuated the remote trunk lid opening switch (S15) or the infrared remote central locking control module (IRCL) (N54) sends a signal to the multi-function control module (N10). This transfers the signal "Open trunk lid" through the CAN data bus to the pneumatic system equipment (PSE) (A37). This then supplies pressure and simultaneously actuates the trunk lid remote control valve (CL) (Y65/3). The pressure actuates the pneumatic element on the trunk lid remote control releasing the locking pawl and the trunk lid open
Unintentional actuation of the remote trunk lid opening switch (S15) while driving is prevented by checking the speed signal. The speed signal is present on the multi-function control module (N10) where it is transferred via the CAN data bus to the pneumatic system equipment (PSE) (A37).
After locking the vehicle from outside (with infrared remote control or key) the trunk lid remote control function (TRC) is inhibited via the remote trunk lid opening switch (S15).
NOTE: Pneumatic and electrical malfunctions in the trunk lid remote control (TRC) system are recognized by the pneumatic system equipment (PSE) (A37) and stored in the fault memory of the multi-function control module (N10).
The fault memory can be read out and erased with the hand-held tester (HHT).
(For testing Testing and Inspection)
!
If the fault memory for the pneumatic system equipment (PSE) (A37) is erased with the hand-held tester (HHT), the fault memories for the convenience feature (CF) and multi-function control module (N10) are automatically erased.
