INSPECTION
1. Using holding device (055) tool No. 129 589 01 21 00, or equivalent, fix steering wheel in center position.
2. Check center position of steering gear and steering wheel.
- The steering gear is in the center position when the marking line on the cap aligns with the marking notch on the rotary slide valve (arrows).
- Offset the steering wheel by a maximum of one tooth if necessary.
3. Install a suitable wheel spreader (030) on the inside of the wheel in the forwards direction of travel, then remove.
NOTE: The flexible mount of the wishbones results in a correspondingly large toe-in value which reduces to the correct dimension in the ready-to-drive condition
ADJUSTMENT
4. Adjust toe-in by loosening the lock nut (10f) and rotating the track rods (10)
- After adjusting toe-in check boot for twisting
- Tighten lock nut (10f) to: 60 Nm
