Function of Electric Steering Column Adjustment
Function of Electric Steering Column Adjustment
Interlinkage Of Components:
The position of the steering column can be adjusted with the adjustment switches in the driver's door. The following can be adjusted separately:
- Longitudinal position of steering column (in/out)
- Height of steering column (up/down)
Three steering column positions can be stored and called up with the memory keys.
The positions of the driver's seat are stored and called up together with the steering column positions.
Function prerequisites
- Voltage not too high or too low and
- Circuit 15 on or
- Circuit 15R on or
- Driver's door open.
Actuation of the steering column up/down switch (S91s11) or the steering column in/out switch (S91s12) is read in by the front driver-side door control module (N69/1). The door control module transmits a CAN-message for adjusting the steering column in the selected direction to the driver-side ESA control module (N32/1) as long as the switch is pressed and the function prerequisites are fulfilled. The CAN-message can be transmitted for a maximum of 50 seconds. The driver-side ESA control module (N32/1) controls the motors for adjusting the steering column accordingly.
