Emptying And Filling Pressure Oil System
NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.
EMPTYING
1. Refer to general notes for working on vehicles with level control/ADS. Technician Safety Information
2. Dismantle connecting rod or connecting linkage (7) on level controller lever (arrow)
3. Attach oil drain hose (061) to oil drain plug (3P) on level controller (3) at connection "S2"
WARNING:
^ Risk of injury to the eyes and other parts of the body due to hydraulic oil spraying out under high pressure
^ Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.
4. Slowly open oil drain plug (3P) and collect oil in a clean container
5. Close oil drain plug (3p) again
CAUTION:
^ Before starting work on the hydraulic system, repressurize the system.
^ Seal open lines with blind plugs.
^ The oil collected can be re-used
FILLING
1. Pour oil into the oil reservoir (2)
- Only reuse clean oil
2. Set level controller lever to "Fill" position (F)
WARNING:
^ Risk of accident due to the vehicle starting off automatically when engine is running.
^ Risk of injury due to bruising or burns when intervening while starting the engine or when the engine is running.
3. Start engine, allow to run at moderate speed for approx. 60 seconds
- The system bleeds itself automatically.
4. Switch off engine
CAUTION:
^ Ensure that there is sufficient oil in the oil reservoir.
^ The pump must not suck in air under any circumstances.
5. Set level controller lever (arrow) to position "Empty (L)"
6. After approx. 60 seconds, attach connecting rod or connecting linkage (7) to level control lever (arrows)
NOTE:
^ Replace self-locking bolts and nuts
^ Place vehicle on its wheels and press down firmly several times.
^ The vehicle level adjusts itself.
^ Check and correct oil level in oil reservoir
