INSTALLATION OF CELLULAR TELEPHONE (CTEL) SYSTEM

Warning:
Disconnect and cover negative battery terminal.

A. Installing 3-watt booster and Portable Support Electronics (PSE) module.

1. Unpack contents of installation kit and compare to parts list at end of Work Instructions. Read through entire procedure to familiarize yourself with sequence of instructions and parts. Remove Operating Guide from kit and place in Owner's Literature pouch.

2. Remove the left trunk liner panel, and locate 25-pole connector, coax cable from front center console, fiber optic cable (D2B) and integrated antenna cable (passes through grommet in fender)

3. Secure booster to mounting plate using three (3) M4 x 10 screws and nuts.





Cabriolet: The 25-pole connector faces to the rear of vehicle when installed (Figure 2).

Coupe: The 25-pole connector faces downward.

4. Secure PSE module to the mounting plate using four (4) M4 x 6 machine screws through the plate into threaded inserts in module. The 25-pole connector faces up.

Cabriolet: The 25-pole connector faces down (Figure 2).

Coupe: The 25-pole connector faces up.

5. Connect the 25-pole connector labeled "PSE" to portable electronics module, and 25 pole connector labeled "Booster" to the 3-watt booster. Secure excess wire with cable straps (Figure 1).

6. Connect coax cable from antenna to booster connector labeled "Antenna".

7. Connect coax cable from center console to booster connector adjacent to the 25-pole connector. DO NOT REVERSE CONNECTIONS IN STEPS 6 and 7.

8. Connect 25-pole pre-wire harness connector to 25-pole pigtail from booster and PSE module.

9. Remove the protective caps and connect fiber optic cable (D2B) to connector receptacle on the side of the Portable Support Electronics (PSE) module.





10. Cabriolet: Position the plate behind the partition in the wheel well housing. Mounting studs should be located in the lower most hole, upper right hole and large hole off of wheel well housing. Secure with two (2) M6 nuts on upper and lower stud. On large hole, off wheel well housing, use the large washer with an MS nut (Figure 2).

Coupe: Position the plate behind the sound system mount. The extruded plate foot is located in the lower most hole. Secure with three (3) M6 nuts.

B. Installing handset (HS).

1. Remove the upper storage box by gently lifting from the hinge area.





2. Place template into the box, then punch and drill two (2) cradle mounting holes. Punch and drill 1.5" coil cord access hole at the rear of the box. Install grommet (Figure 3).

3. Secure the cradle using two (2) M4 x 6 machine screws.

4. Reinstall the storage box.

5. Route the coil cord through the hole at the rear of the box into the lower section.

6. Remove the wiring access cover from the bottom of the lower compartment, and connect the 10 pole RJ45 connector, and the coax cable.

7. Install the cable cover into the lower section to conceal the wiring.

8. Fasten the coil cord retainer to the cradle, and insert the coil cord.

9. Reconnect battery. Program phone and test function. Verify correct version coding and system configuration using HHT.
