General Description

Function Description of Electric Outside Rearview Mirror Adjustment

General
The outside rearview mirrors are electrically adjustable on both sides and equipped with an electric mirror defroster.

The adjustment motors in the outside rearview mirrors can be actuated either directly by the switch for outside rearview mirror adjustment or by the multi-function control module.

The mirror defroster and thermostat are located on the back of the mirror glass to which they are permanently bonded. The thermostat switches the defroster on and off depending on the temperature.

On vehicles with code 275a (memory package for driver's seat, steering column, rearview mirror) adjustment preferences for the outside rearview mirrors can be stored.

Depending on the vehicle equipment and national version it is also possible to fold the outside mirrors down and an automatic dimming feature is available for the outside rearview mirror on the driver's side.

The outside rearview mirrors are concave for a wide field of view.

NOTE: If the rearview mirror housing is unhooked with force, it can be hooked back in by pressing with force.
The familiar mechanical fold down feature to the front and rear after a certain resistance is reached has been maintained.

Accident hazard! The outside rearview mirrors make objects appear smaller. Objects may be closer than they appear.
