Floor Selector

LOCATION
- The floor selector is located in the center console of the vehicle.

TASK
- The floor selector is the central control for the driver to influence the shift program of the automatic transmission.

DESIGN
- The following components are integrated in the floor selector:
^ Position indicator with program selector switch
^ Transmission range recognition switch
^ Reverse lamp switch
^ Lock of selector lever position "R" and "P"
^ "D"-"4" shift isolating mechanism
^ Shift detent

FUNCTION
- The selector lever is guided and positioned in the shift gate. Selector lever positions "P", "R" "N" and "D" are conveyed to the transmission mechanically via the shift rod. In parallel with this all the selector lever positions are conveyed to the Electronic Transmission Control (ETC) module via a transmission range recognition switch in the floor selector. the selector lever is disconnected from the shift rod when the selector lever is moved laterally from "D" to "4". There is therefore no longer any mechanical connection to the transmission. The selector lever positions "4", "3", "2 " and " 1 " are then conveyed electronically to the ETC module via the transmission range recognition switch.
