Oil Level Control
LOCATION
- The oil level control float is inserted in the electrical control unit.
TASK
- To seal the opening between the oil chamber and gear set chamber so that the rotating gear sets do-not splash in the oil as the oil level rises. The power losses are reduced and oil is prevented from being expelled from the transmission housing at high oil temperatures.
FUNCTION
- The lubricating oil continuously escaping from the gear set flows back through the opening (46) into the oil chamber (A) when the oil level is low. If the oil level rises the oil presses the float (4s) against the housing. The float (45) thus separates the oil chamber (A) from the gear set chamber (8). The oil continuing to escape from the gear sets is flung against the housing wall carried along by the rotating parts and flows hack to the oil chamber (A) through the upper opening (arrow).
