Function of Windshield Washer Pump

The motor of the windshield washer pump (M5/1) is actuated by the signal
acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) via the double windshield
washer relay (K40/2k3). The polarity of the operating voltage for the motor and therefore the direction of rotation depends on the relay coil actuated.

The pump pumps water from the washing water reservoir to the windshield washer or rear window washer depending on the direction of rotation of the motor.


Purpose
Pump washing water for washing windshield and rear window.

Design
The windshield washer pump is driven by a DC motor. The pump has two hose connections, one for the windshield and one for the rear window washer.
