Removal

1. Remove steering wheel

2. Remove instrument cluster

3. Remove glove compartment

4. Remove lining on A-pillar

5. Remove center console

6. Remove radio

7. Remove cover on center console

8. Remove cover below panel (left)

9. Remove cover below panel (right)

10. Remove covers for left and rlght loudspeakers

11. Remove left and right side air nozzles

12. Remove or unclip switches and plug connections on switch panel (8) and lay to side

13. Remove pushbutton control unit for automatic heater control >

14. Remove center air nozzle

15. Remove rotary light switch

16. Remove panel (9) toward rear, disconnect connector (arrows) for headlamp range control and lay panel (9) down to one side

17. Unhook control cable (10) on handle (11)

18. Pull out handle (11) and lay down to one side

19. Remove screw (2, WAF 8 mm) on side of panel

20. Unclip both covers (3) on side of defroster nozzle for windshield upward and remove

21. Unscrew screws (4) (WAF 8 mm, 2 ea.) an remove together with washers

22. Unclip cover (5) on side of panel (1, passenger side, arrow) and remove

23. Unscrew screw (6, WAF 8 mm)

24. Unscrew screws (7, 2 each) below panel (passenger side, WAF 8 mm)

25. Remove bottom clip (12) on A-pillar (13) on left and right

26. Remove ignition key from ignition lock

27. Lift instrument panel (1), pull toward rear and remove through passenger door opening
Caution: Take care not to damage panel when removing and installing

28. Lay instrument panel (1) down on suitable surface
Note: When replacing install glove compartment cover with damping mechanism, center console frame and ignition lock cover in new panel.


Installation

29. Install sheet metal clip nuts (6 each) for fastening panel

30. Check seals (14) above air outlet on heater housing, replace, if required

31. Move panel (1) into vehicle passenger compartment through passenger door opening

32. Guide panel (1) so that defroster nozzles (15) slide into heater housing

33. Insert ignition lock (arrow) into opening in panel

34. Expose electrical wiring on center console

35. Insert floor covering on left and right in lower area of center console (arrows)

36. Expose electrical connections for loudspeakers and control cable for heater

37. Loosely screw in mounting screws (6 each) for panel

38. Install center console and fasten

39 Install bottom clips (12) on A-pillar (13) on left and right

40. Install lining on A-pillar

41. Tighten fastening screws for panel (6 each)
Note: Fit instrument panel into contour of A-pillar lining by moving back and forth slightly

42. Clip in cover (5)

43. Clip in cover (3) on left and right

44. Install handle (11) and hook in control cable (10)

45. Install panel (9)

46. Install rotary light switch

47. Install center air nozzle

48 Install pushbutton control unit for automatic heater control

49. Install connectors and switches on switch panel (8)
Note: Observe switch positions!

50. Install side air nozzles

51. Install covers for loudspeakers on left and right

52. Install cover below panel (right)

53. Install cover below panel (left)

54. Install ashtray housing in center console at front

55. Install cover by shift lever

56. Install cover on center console

57. Install radio

58. Install glove compartment

59. Install instrument cluster

60. Install steering wheel

61. Carry out function check, set clock, recode radio
