Pressure Plate: Testing and Inspection
Checking Pressure plate and clutch plate
Checking pressure plate
1. Check pressure plate (6) for heat cracks and score marks, and the diaphragm spring for fractures (arrow).
2. Check tabs on diaphragm spring for wear and uniform height (arrows).
Checking clutch plate
3. Check friction lining (1a) of clutch plate on entry and exit sides for oil fouling, cracks and chipping.
4. Check thickness of friction lining.
5. Check damping springs (1b) for fractures and firm seating.
6. Check spline shaft profile (1c) for wear and chipping. It must be possible to slide the clutch plate on the transmission input shaft with little effort.
