Dismantling And Assembling Manually Adjustable Jacket Tube

1 Remove jacket tube
2 Remove cup seal (71c) from lower steering shaft (80a)
3 Detach lower steering shaft (80a)
4 Check lateral runout of lower steering shaft (80a)
- If necessary, when tolerance is exceeded, replace lower steering shaft (80a)
5 Detach hydraulic cylinder (94) and detach from control cable
- Check hydraulic cylinder.
- Check fixing function of hydraulic cylinder
- Replace hydraulic cylinder, if necessary

6 Remove guide screw (91b)
7 Push or pull adjusting lever or handle (93, 95) and withdraw inner jacket tube (81b) from outer jacket tube (81 a)
8 Detach handle (95) and latching mechanism (95a) for manual steering wheel adjustment
9 Detach control cables (93a, 93b, 93c)

NOTE: Simply turn and remove plastic clips on control cable (93e) in bracket

10 Remove and check play adjusters (92a, 92b)
11 Check plastic bearing (91a)
12 Dismantle inner jacket tube (81b)
13 Assemble inner jacket tube (81b)
14 Insert plastic bearing (91a)
15 Lubricate inner jacket tube (81b) and push into outer jacket tube (81a)
16 Align groove (arrow) of inner jacket tube with guide screw (91b) and screw in and tighten guide screw (91b)
17 Install play adjusters (92a, 92b)
18 Attach and adjust control cables (93a, 93b)
19 Attach control cable (93c) with adjusting switch (93) or latching mechanism (95a)
20 Attach lever of hydraulic cylinder (94) in the control cable (93c) and screw hydraulic cylinder onto jacket tube

NOTE: Install flat nut and ball socket towards the steering wheel side

21 Attach and adjust control cables (93a, 93b)
22 Install lower steering shaft (80a) on upper steering shaft
23 Install lower steering shaft (80a) on upper steering shaft with preload
24 Smear cup seal (71c) lightly with lubricating grease and push onto lower steering shaft
