Technician Safety Information
GENERAL NOTES AND WARNINGS ON WORKING ON VEHICLES WITH LEVEL CONTROL/ADSWear Protective Clothing And Safety Glasses.
- Before starting work on the hydraulic system,
- Repressurize the system.
- Seal open connections with blind plugs.
Comply With The Following For Loosening Pressure Lines
- Risk of injury due to oil spraying oil
- Hydraulic pressure can reach up to approx. 200 bar
- Before starting work where pressure lines have to be released at the spring elements, it is essential to empty the system and therefore depressurize it.
- Seal disconnected lines, hoses and the connections on components with blind plugs immediately.
Risk Of Poisoning By Swallowing Hydraulic Oil
- Anybody who swallows hydraulic oil must expect to suffer symptoms of poisoning such as headaches, of Iciness, stomachache, vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions and loss of consciousness. in each case medical attention must be sought if hydraulic oil is swallowed.
Avoidance
- Only pour hydraulic oil into and store in original containers. Under no circumstances should hydraulic oil be poured into bottles for drinks, such as mineral water, beer, etc.
Ensure Access Is For Authorized Persons Only
- Risk of injury due to contact with hydraulic oil or hydraulic oil spraying in the eyes it hydraulic oil comes into contact with unprotected skin, it may cause damage to me skin.
- Wearing protective clothing, such as gloves can prevent this
- The following points should be observed, if rubber gloves cannot be worn:
- Keep the length of contact between the hydraulic oil and me skin to a minimum, wash wet skin with soap and water.
- Change wet clothing as soon as possible.
- In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water or use an eye bath. it there are signs of imitation, consult an ophthalmologist.
Notes On Dealing With Central Hydraulic Oil
- Central hydraulic oil is particularly hazardous to health and it is essential to wear protective clothing. Ensure there is adequate ventilation.
RISK OF ACCIDENT AS A RESULT OF CAR STARTING OFF ON ITS OWN WHEN ENGINE RUNNING
- Secure vehicle against moving off on its own.
- Before performing work with the engine running, apply parking
- On vehicles with automatic transmission, move selector lever into position "P"
- On vehicles with manual transmission, move gearshift lever into neutral
RISK OF INJURY FROM CONTUSIONS AND BURNS IF HAND INSERTED INTO ENGINE DURING STARTING OR WHEN ENGINE RUNNING
- Wear suitable work clothes when performing work on the vehicle.
- Wear closed, close fitting work clothes when performing work on the running engine to prevent injuries as a result of clothing being caught.
- It is not permitted to wear any jewelry. Do not touch any rotating and hot parts.
RISK OF INJURY WHEN DRILLING GAS-FILLED COMPONENTS DUE TO ESCAPING GAS (NOT FLAMMABLE)
- To prevent accidents involving drilling swarf, wear safety glasses and gloves for this work.
- Do not drill with an excessive feed.
- Risk of injury due to escaping gas (not flammable).
- To prevent accidents due to escaping gas when drilling, satiety glasses and gloves must be worn for this work.
- Drilling swarf under pressure which can reach 75 bar depending on the component, may cause injuries.
- Therefore for the same resort do not drill with an excessive feed.
