Function with soft top closed
The electronically controlled cooling, heating and ventilation system for (automatic) air conditioning keeps the desired temperature constant in the passenger compartment. The automatic air conditioning starts running when the engine is started and operates according to the so-called "reheat" principle.
This means:
The A/C compressor operates continuously at outdoor temperatures above 1 °C and cools down the cold incoming air. This effect serves primarily for comfort because cooling simultaneously dries the air which is a prerequisite for a pleasant interior atmosphere. After the cooling process the dehydrated air is heated up to the set temperature in the heater core. When the EC button is pressed, the cooling is switched off.

Function with soft top opened
Compared to the function with the soft top closed, the in-car temperature sensor is switched off by S84/1352 and the system switches over to blower air control dependent on outside temperature (similar to model 107).

Heating mode
The heat exchanger temperature sensor measures the air temperature at the heater heat exchanger whereas the in-car temperature sensor determines the respective interior temperature.

In addition the outside temperature is still also determined by the outside temperature sensor.

The electronics of the pushbutton control module compares the various measured values with the temperature preselected at the temperature selectors.

Depending on the requirement, the electronics regulates the automatic air conditioning or keeps the respective setting constant. The blower runs at a higher speed with the soft top open than with the soft top closed.


Cooling mode
The evaporator temperature sensor measures the temperature at the air outlet of the evaporator whereas the in-car temperature sensor determines the respective interior temperature. In addition the outside temperature is still also determined by the outside temperature sensor.

The electronics of the pushbutton control module compares the various measured values with the temperature preselected at the temperature selectors.

Depending on the requirement, the electronics regulates the automatic air conditioning or keeps the respective setting constant.

The air volume and air distribution is adjusted completely automatically via an automatic circuit. The blower runs at a higher speed with the soft top open than with the soft top closed.
