Operating the multifunction display (A1p13)
If the instrument cluster (A1) is activated, e.g. by opening the driver's door, the basic display of the basic function (trip distance/total distance) always appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
Calling up display for various systems
Function condition.
Terminal 15r: ON
By pressing one of the system selection pushbuttons (S110s3) on the multifunction steering wheel, the multifunction display (A1p13) is changed over to the basic display for the next or previous system. (It makes no difference how long the button is pressed). When the inner button is pressed the display jumps to the next system and when the outer button is pressed the display jumps to the previous system in each case.
If all the systems have been run through, you will return to the basic display for the basic function and the sequence will start again.
The figure opposite shows the possible systems in a circle. When the inner system selection pushbutton (S110s3) is pressed the display jumps clockwise (arrow on right) to the next system.
When the outer system selection pushbutton (S110s3) is pressed the display jumps counterclockwise (arrow on left) to the previous system.
The basic function can also be called up from all systems by pressing the trip odometer reset button (A1s3) for 10 seconds. However, this is not possible from the setting menus.
NOTE: Only the systems and functions that the vehicle is equipped with are displayed. If a system is not fitted, it is "skipped" when one of the system selection pushbuttons (S110s3) is pressed.
Scrolling within a system
Function conditions;
Terminal 15r: ON
Apart from the basic display most systems make further display screens available.
The scroll forward/back pushbutton (S110s1) serves to scroll within a system.
The function of the scroll forward/back pushbutton is shown in the figure under the example of the basic system. The display moves on each time the scroll forward/back pushbutton (S110s1) is pressed.
The scrolling direction depends on the button sector pressed.
NOTE: It is possible to change over to another display screen from any display screen by pressing the system selection pushbutton (S110s3).
Example: Displaying remaining distance or remaining time (the ignition is switched on):
- Press a button sector for the system selection pushbutton (S110s3) until the basic function (trip distance/total distance) is displayed.
- Press the scroll forward or scroll back pushbutton until the remaining time or remaining distance appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
Individual settings
Function conditions:
- Terminal 15r: ON
- Speed less than 5 km/h
The driver has the possibility of carrying out various pre-settings via the "Settings" function. The following settings can be carried out for the instrument cluster (A1):
- Time, setting the hours (on vehicles without COMMAND code 352 only)
- Time, setting the minutes (on vehicles without COMMAND code 352 only)
- Temperature display:
The outside temperature display can be changed over between °C and °F.
In addition the instrument cluster (A1) sends a corresponding message for the air conditioning to the CAN/interior.
- Speedometer
It is possible to change over between miles and kilometer units. This change over also acts on the trip computer display integrated in the instrument cluster (A1).
In addition the instrument cluster (A1) sends a corresponding message to the CAN engine compartment.
- Text/language
Here the language can be selected in which the texts in the instrument cluster are displayed. The instrument cluster (A1) also sends a corresponding message to the CAN (A1 - A40/3, A2).
(The language setting on the COMMAND system does not act on the language setting of the instrument cluster (A1).
In addition the following settings, are possible
- 12/24 HOUR (the time display can, be changed over from the 12 hour display to 24 hour display.)
- Speed limitation for winter tires (210 km/h, 190 km/h, 160 km/h (130 MPH, 110 MPH, 100 MPH) or Off)
- Station search (frequency/memory)
More detailed information on these settings can be found in the function descriptions for the relevant systems.
Changing the setting:
- Press the system selection pushbutton (S110s3) until the "Settings..." function appears in the multifunction display (A1p13)
