The following equipment is integrated in the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3):
- Graphic compatible color LCD display
- Navigation processor with GPS receiver and gyrosensor
- CD player for alternatively playing audio CDs and loading navigation data
- Traffic data memory
- Dual tuner radio
- Audio amplifier

A40/3 has the following digital interfaces:
- Digital data bus (D2B)
- CAN bus to instrument cluster (A1)
- COMAND CAN bus
- K bus (diagnostic interface)
