Relocking, Function

The relocking function prevents the vehicle from remaining unlocked when the remote control key is actuated unintentionally.
After the vehicle has been unlocked with the remote control key the PSE control module (combined) (A37) starts a waiting time of 40 seconds. After expiration of this waiting time the vehicle is locked again pneumatically by the PSE control module when none of the following have been accomplished previously.
- One of the doors or trunk lid opened, or
- Emergency opening function actuated, or
- Interior CL switch actuated, or
- Remote control key inserted into key opening in electronic ignition switch (EIS) control module (N73).

(USA) (J) only:
The relocking function is not active when the vehicle has been unlocked with one of the lock switches before or after actuating the remote control key.

If the button "Unlock vehicle" on the remote control key was pressed again before expiration of the waiting time, the waiting time is reset and starts running again. This is possible a maximum of ten times, then the waiting time is no longer reset.

NOTE: The relocking function also activates the anti-theft alarm (ATA).
