Function of Synchronizing Sliding/Pop-Up Roof (SR)
Definition
Synchronizing sets the counter for position measurement to the actual position of the sliding/pop-up roof (SR) in the overhead control panel control module (N70). Synchronizing is necessary when the overhead control panel control module (N70) is disconnected from the power supply (e.g. by disconnecting the battery, removing or installing the control module), or when the sliding/pop-up roof has been desynchronized. When the sliding/pop-up roof is not synchronized the overhead control panel control module (N70) does not know the position of the roof nor in which direction the motor for the sliding/pop-up roof (M12/1) must turn in order to close the sliding/pop-up roof. For this reason synchronization is a prerequisite for the functions of closing the sliding/pop-up roof as well as the convenience feature.
Synchronizing
Open the pop-up roof with the sliding/pop-up roof switch (N70s1) until the motor for the sliding/pop-up roof (M21/1) locks up, then continue to hold down the switch. The overhead control panel control module (N70) continues to actuate the motor and sets the counter for the sliding/pop-up roof position measurement to zero when it is recognized that the motor has locked up for at least 0.3 sec.
The sliding/pop-up roof is then synchronized, this means that the overhead control panel control module (N70) can now shut off the motor before reaching the lock-up position when opening the pop-up roof.
This status is maintained as long as the sliding/pop-up roof is not desynchronized.
Resynchronization
Resynchronization is accomplished after
- the pop-up roof is opened 50 times in the synchronized state or
- the sliding/pop-up roof switch is actuated for more than three seconds in the direction for opening the pop-up roof even though the zero position has already been reached.
