Dismantle/Assemble Clutch K1

DISASSEMBLE
1. Remove snap ring (90) from outer multiple disc carrier
2. Take multiple-disc pack (89) out of outer multiple disc carrier
- Check multiple-discs for burnt spots and wear

3. Place assembly device (072) tool No. 140 589 13 43 00, or equivalent, on spring plate (87) and tension until the snap ring (88) is exposed (figure A)
4. Remove snap ring (88)
5. Take out disc spring (86b) and remove piston (86) by carefully blowing compressed air into the bore (A)
- Remove snap ring (91) and take out front freewheel (92) as required

ASSEMBLY
1. Install piston (86) in the outer multiple-disc carrier
- Check sealing rings (83b and 86a), replace if necessary
- The rounded off edges of the sealing rings must point outwards
2. Insert disc spring (86b).
- Insert disc spring with the curvature towards the piston
3. Insert spring plate (87).
- Insert spring plate with the curvature towards the sun gear
4. Place assembly device (072) on spring plate (87) and tension until the groove of the snap ring is exposed
- Check sealing ring (87a), replace if necessary
5. Insert snap ring (88)
- After installing, check snap ring for correct seat
6. Insert multiple-disc pack (89) in the outer multiple-disc carrier and measure as follows:
a. Refer to Survey of multiply-disc components to locate correct number of discs for this application. Application and ID
b. Observe outer multiple-disc sequence of installation, then procedures as follows:

c. Place discs for multiple-disc clutch K1 together in the sequence shown in the illustration above
d. Using a feeler gauge, determine the play "L" at three points between the snap ring (90) and the outer disc (89c)
- During the measurement the snap ring (90) must contact the upper bearing surface of the groove in the disc carrier

Adjustment Values Multiple Disc Clutch K1
Number Of Discs: 3
Clearance Dimension "L": 0.50-1.80 mm

e. Using the table above determine the correct clearance based on the number of discs installed.
f. Adjust clearance "L" using a snap ring of the correct thickness
- Snap rings are available in thicknesses of 2.60, 2.90, 3.20, 3.50 and 3.80 mm
7. Insert snap ring (90)
8. Insert front freewheel (92) and fit snap ring (91)
- The freewheel (92) must be installed in direction of the arrow
