Headlamp Illumination Feature, Function

The headlamp illumination feature serves for illuminating the surrounding area, e.g. in an underground parking lot, for a short time after leaving the vehicle.

Activating function
Switch on ignition with headlamp switched on and door open. The PSE control module (combined) (A37) recognizes the voltage potential of the rear lamps and sets the function status to "active" as soon as circuit 15 on is recognized via the CAN bus.

After the last vehicle door is closed the fog lamps switch on for a certain time. The time they are switched on can be set up to max. 120 seconds with the version coding of the PSE control module.

Deactivating function
Switch on the ignition with the headlamps switched off and door open. The PSE control module (combined) (A37) sets the function status to "inactive" as soon as circuit 15 on is recognized via the CAN bus.

The function is also deactivated by
- tripping off the anti-theft alarm (ATA) or
- setting the ATA to the diagnostic mode during the illumination period.
