Door Contact Switches

The interior lighting is switched on and off when the doors are opened and closed. This function can be activated or deactivated with the door contact on/off switch (N70s3). The state is changed from active to inactive and vice versa each time the switch is pressed. The function status is stored internally in the overhead control panel control module (N70) and transmitted as a CAN message. If the function is not active the door contacts have no effect on the interior lighting.

The overhead control panel control module (N70) controls the time the lights are switched on.

The entrance/exit lamps are controlled by the associated door control modules, the front dome lamp (N70e1) by the overhead control panel control module (N70) and the rear dome lamp (E15/3) by the PSE control module (combined, A37).

The table indicates how the lamps in the vehicle interior react when the door contact switches are actuated.

NOTE: The entrance/exit lamps are actuated only when the doors are open.

Switching on the lighting has priority over switching off. Example:If the driver's door is closed with circuit 15 "ON", while the passenger door is still open, the front dome lamp (N70e1) remains on.
