Function

The antennas (AM, FM, TV) convert the radio frequency (RF) oscillation of the electromagnetic field in the air into a high frequency alternating current in an electrical conductor. By properly tuning the length of the antenna to the wavelength of the frequency to be received, a vertical electric wave forms in the antenna. The amplitude of the RF signal at any specific point of the antenna has a constant value. The RF signal level is at its maximum at the connection point Deviation of the antenna length from the optimum length leads to a reduction of the RF signal level at the antenna output. If the deviation is too great, the signal is no longer received (for example incorrect connection of antennas to antenna amplifier).
