With Code 551a
Scope Of Protection:
The anti-towing sensor (TS) is a supplementary function for the present anti-theft alarm (ATA).
Purpose
The anti-towing sensor (TS) recognizes a change in the position of the vehicle or when the entire vehicle is towed away and signals this to the anti-theft alarm control module (ATA). In addition wheel theft is also recognized by the change in the position of the vehicle and signaled to the anti-theft alarm control module (ATA).
NOTE: On model 210 the anti-theft alarm (ATA) is integrated into the pneumatic system equipment (PSE) multi-function control module (A37).
Function
The anti-towing sensor (TS) is switched on and off by the anti-theft alarm (ATA). After switching on a self-test is performed. If an error is recognized the anti-towing sensor (TS) does not function until the ATA is switched off. When the vehicle is parked the specific vehicle position is stored by the ATA tow sensor (B33).
If the vehicle is then moved by a certain angle in the longitudinal and/or lateral directions over a certain actuation time with the anti-theft alarm (ATA) activated, the ATA tow sensor (B33) sends a ground signal to the anti-theft alarm (ATA). The optical and acoustic alarm signals for the anti-theft alarm (ATA) are tripped by this ground signal.
NOTE: On model 210 the anti-theft alarm (ATA) is integrated into the pneumatic system equipment (PSE) control module (A37).
NOTE: Heavy and continuous rocking of the vehicle can lead to tripping the alarm.
Switching off anti-towing sensor
In order to avoid erroneous alarms when transporting or loading the vehicle the anti-towing sensor (AS) can be switched off with the ATA status/towing protection/IP switch (S85/2).
Pull key out of steering lock for this purpose and press top of ATA status/ towing protection/IR switch (S85/2).
The status indicator in the ATA status/towing protection/IR switch (S85/2) flashes for approx. 2s as an acknowledgment signal. Then lock the vehicle from outside with the central locking feature.
The anti-towing sensor (TS) remains switched off until the vehicle is again locked from the outside with the central locking feature.
