Opening Trunk Lid With Interior Switch, Function

Interlinkage 0f Remote Trunk Release:

The trunk lid can be opened from the vehicle passenger compartment with the remote trunk release switch (N72s15).

Function prerequisites
The remote trunk release switch (N72s15) is enabled by the lower control panel control module (N72)
- when the emergency unlocking function is actuated,
- when the vehicle is unlocked with the remote control key,
- when the vehicle is unlocked with the lock switches ((USA), (J) only).
- when the vehicle is unlocked with the interior central locking switch (S6s1) when it was previously locked automatically or with the interior central locking switch (S6s1),
- when the remote control key is inserted into the ignition lock after locking with the remote control key.

The function of the switch is inhibited by the lower control panel control module (N72) when
- the automatic locking function is triggered,
- the vehicle is locked with the remote control key or with the interior central locking switch (S6s1),
- the vehicle is locked with the lock switches ((USA), (J) only).

Function sequence
Actuation of the remote trunk release switch (N72s15) is recognized by the lower control panel control module (N72) and an instruction is sent via the CAN bus to the pneumatic system equipment (PSE) control module (A37) to open the trunk lid. The PSE control module opens the trunk lid pneumatically when the lock cylinder in the trunk lid lock is not locked mechanically by turning to the 90° position.
